We are a Family-Owned local business founded in Asheville in 1986, not a franchise chain shop.  Our founders Jimmy and Kathy Carter started the business in a small shop located just off of Patton Ave.  Having moved twice now to accommodate growth, J-Car is now located at 32 Old Charlotte Highway near Highland Brewing Co. and is one of the largest and most respected Transmission Repair Facilities in WNC.

Jimmy Carter first started in the Transmission business at age 19 working alongside a Master Transmission Mechanic.  By 1986, he had gained the trust and knowledge in his field to start his own company and J-Car Transmission was founded.

By doing quality work and going the extra mile to make sure all customers are satisfied, J-Car Transmission has proudly served Western North Carolina for over 30 years.
